Everything is direct from the maker, and as the makers price their own goods, everything is fairly traded.  Buying local is good for the environment, and great on the conscience - less road traffic, less pollution, less packaging

Described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswold's", Stroud has one of the highest proportion of artists and crafts workers in the country.

The Made in Stroud Shop was set up in December 2000 now provides a shop window for up to 120 makers living and working in the Stroud District. The shop encourages innovation, creativity and the concept of buying locally made goods - all while providing local people with a self-help, affordable marketing opportunity.

The enormous variety of goods on offer ranges from the works of musicians and artists through to aromatherapy products, mirrors, pottery, textiles and basketry. In addition to the wide range of items in stock the shop also takes commissions. If you would like anything made for your home or for a special gift, we will do our best to find a local person to make it for you.

This year on Friday 1st December 2008, we will celebrate our 8th birthday - come along to our late night opening on Goodwill Evening and join in our celebrations.
